Magistrate Michael Sawicky Announces Candidacy for

District Court Judge

Farmington Hills, Michigan — Attorney and 47th District Court Magistrate Michael Sawicky has announced his candidacy for District Court Judge, seeking the seat currently held by Judge Jim Brady, who will be retiring at the end of this year.

Magistrate Sawicky has served alongside Judge Brady for many years as an appointed Magistrate in the 47th District Court, working closely on matters ranging from arraignments and warrant authorizations to small-claims and traffic proceedings.

“I’m running for District Court Judge because our community deserves a court that works for everyone—fairly, efficiently, and with respect for all who come before it,” Sawicky said. “I am humbled by the full support of Judge Jim Brady and so many others who have encouraged me to run for this position.”

Sawicky has practiced law in Michigan since 1995 and currently serves as a Magistrate in the 47th District Court, covering the cities of Farmington and Farmington Hills.

“For more than thirty years, I’ve had the privilege of serving the people of our community from every side of the courtroom—as an assistant prosecutor, criminal defense attorney, and District Court Magistrate,” Sawicky said. “These experiences have given me a clear understanding of how justice impacts people’s lives every day.”

Sawicky earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Fordham University. He is admitted to practice in all Michigan courts and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
